About Us
For over 100 years, Washington Fruit has been a family-owned operation built on strong values and generations of experience. Our leadership in the produce industry reflects our long-standing commitment to quality in every step—from growing to packing to shipping.
Growing Towards the Future
We believe in building lasting relationships through the fruit we share—improving lives and strengthening communities with every connection.
Our Roots Run Deep
Founded in 1916, Washington Fruit has remained family-owned for more than 100 years. From the beginning, our belief was simple: Central Washington holds the ideal conditions to grow world-class tree fruit. With rich soil, abundant water, and generations of expertise, our orchards continue to thrive and set the standard for quality.
Branching Out
In 2020, we partnered with Roche Fruit Company in Yakima, along with their dedicated sales team, Yakima Fresh. More recently, we joined forces with Gilbert Orchards, another respected, family-owned apple and cherry grower. These partnerships have strengthened our vertically integrated organization—Washington Fruit, Mount Adams Fruit, Roche Fruit Company, and Gilbert Orchards—ensuring year-round availability of premium fruit for our customers.
Modern horticultural practices, ongoing orchard development, and investments in technology allow us to adapt to an ever-changing market while upholding the same family values that shaped our beginning.
What Grounds Us
At Washington Fruit, our culture is rooted in responsibility—to our land, our people, and our customers. Guided by our values, we focus on what matters most:
- Innovation: Embracing new technology while honoring proven methods.
- Efficiency: Delivering consistent quality through modern facilities and processes.
- Sustainability: Caring for our land and investing in future generations.
Our Community
We view community action as an opportunity to enrich people’s lives and drive positive change in society. Our primary focus is to support activities that bring people together and provide opportunities to learn and grow. We think this support fosters strong community members.
Healthcare Services
Our involvement in community healthcare programs, The Memorial Foundation and the Yakima Union Gospel Mission, draws from the inspiration from our employees and partners, as well as the resources of our business. For nearly a decade we have been a key community partner of the YUGM, investing in preventative work with students at Madison House Youth Center, access to healthcare at our Care Clinic, and supporting client services through shelter and recovery programs. Our further commitment with the Memorial Foundation helps to advance and transform healthcare in the Yakima Valley, supporting various healthcare initiatives including pediatrics, cancer care, and family medicine.
Education
We’re especially proud of our efforts in education: Growing Great Learners, Blossoms Early Learning Center, WAEF, and Perry Technical Institute. Growing Great Learners was created to serve preschool-aged children with the basic skills needed to be prepared for kindergarten, first grade, and beyond. Washington Fruit was also a major contributor to Blossoms Early Learning Center which is a state-of-the-art preschool and child care program serving 3-4 year old children. Washington Fruit is also a large contributor to the charity of the tree fruit industry, WAEF, providing financial assistance to young people who have a direct connection to the industry.
Youth Programs
We’re dedicated to helping our community be vibrant places to live, work, and play. We demonstrate this commitment by supporting local organizations like La Casa Hogar, Rod’s House and The Pegasus Project. By investing in our community, we’re aiding in the success of our community.
